시인의 원수는 아직도 그의 곁에 있습니다. 그래서 그는 구원을 위한 기도를 하며 조용히 하나님을 기다리는 순종을 보입니다. 순종은 성도에게 선택과목이 아니라 제자 됨의 필수 요소입니다. 하나님의 간섭과 구원을 위해 순종은 반드시 있어야 합니다.

1. 실천 없는 고백
예수님은 산상설교의 마지막에서 직접적인 표현으로 순종에 관해 말씀하셨습니다(눅 6:49). 예수님은 예수님을 主로 고백하는 많은 이들 중에 순종의 삶이 없는 이들을 향해 책망을 하시면서 주님께 순종하지 않는다면 우리는 더 이상 그에게 속하지 않는다고 하셨습니다.
불순종의 대명사는 이스라엘입니다. 그 결과 예루살렘이 바벨론에 의해 멸망당했습니다. 행함이 없는 고백은 초대교회에도 있었습니다. 순종 없는 믿음은 경멸할 만큼 무가치한 것입니다. 그러나 문제는 이것이 교회 안에 만연되어 있다는 것입니다. ‘죄와 불신앙이 일천 명을 죽인다면, 행함이 없는 고백은 일만 명을 죽인다’는 말이 있습니다.

2. 시인이 알고 있는 것
우리가 예수님의 참 제자가 되기를 원한다면 성경에 자신을 깊이 잠기게 해야합니다. 그리고 성경에 잠기려면 먼저 말씀에 순종해야 합니다. 본문에는 성경에 대해 다음의 네 가지를 말씀합니다.
① 하나님은 긍휼이 많으시다(156절).
② 주의 말씀은 진리이다(160절).
③ 개인적 평화는 개인적 순종에서 온다(165절).
④ 순종은 안전보장을 준다(165절).

3. 순종과 하나님 말씀
하나님을 믿고 의지하는 것은 순종을 포함하고 있습니다. 성경 연구를 떠나서 참 제자가 되는 길은 없습니다. 성도는 오직 말씀을 통해 하나님께 순종하게 되고, 주님을 따르는 법을 배우게 됩니다.
우리는 성경을 매일 공부해야 되고, 조직적으로 연구해야 하며, 포괄적으로 또 경건하게 연구해야 하고 뿐만 아니라 기도하면서 연구해야 합니다. 그러나 성령의 감화와 조명 없이는 성경을 읽을 수 없고, 그리스도의 은혜 없이 순종할 수 없습니다.

4. 구원과 하나님 말씀
시인은 하나님의 말씀을 굳게 지키겠사오니 구원해달라고 합니다. 또 자신이 하나님의 법도를 사랑하므로 구원해달라고 합니다. 그리고 무엇보다 말씀에 구원의 약속을 인하여 구원해달라고 기도합니다.

날마다 말씀을 연구하며 그 말씀에 순종하는 하나님의 신실한 백성들이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.

Obedience and salvation
(Psalm 119:153-168)

Since his enemies are still near him, the psalmist expresses his obedience by waiting quietly for the Lord and praying for deliverance from his enemies. Obedience is not an option but a requirement of being a disciple. Likewise, obedience is a requirement for us so that God might intervene on our behalf and save us.

1. Confession without practice
Jesus Christ spoke directly about obedience in the last part of His Sermon on the Mount (Luke 6:49). Jesus pointed out that there are those who do not live according to obedience amongst confessing people. He said that if a person does not obey the Lord, they do not belong to Him. This was a reference to Israel's disobedience.
As a result of their disobedience, Jerusalem had been brought down by Babylon. Later, confession without practice was also a problem in the early church. Faith without obedience has no value; it is just the same as if we despise the faith. This problem, however, is still widespread in the church. If one thousand people are killed by disbelief, ten thousand people are killed by confession without practice.

2. What the psalmist knows
If we want to be faithful disciples, we must immerse ourselves deeply in the Bible. If we want to get immersed, we must first of all obey what is written in the Bible. This psalm demonstrates this in four verses.
(1) God's compassion is great (v. 156).
(2) The Lord's words are true (v. 160).
(3) An individual's peace comes from individual obedience (v. 165).
(4) Obedience gives us security (v. 165).

3. Obedience and God's word
Obedience is implied by what we believe about God and what we rely on.
Therefore, there is no road to being a real disciple without studying the Bible.
Christians can obey God only by studying His word and learning the way of following the Lord.
We have to study the Bible daily, studying it systematically, inclusively, and devotionally through prayer. But cannot read the Bible without the Spirit's inspiration and guidance, and we cannot obey God without receiving the grace of Christ.

4. Salvation and God's word
The psalmist called out with his whole heart that he wanted to be saved. The psalmist knew that he was saved because he obeyed God's word, and loved His laws. Moreover, he prayed that he would be saved by the God who promised to save him.
