본문 : 시편 119:41-64

성경공부를 할 때는 그 깊은 뜻을 깨달아 알 수 있도록 성령의 조명을 위해 기도해야 합니다. 시인은 성경 안에서 사랑의 하나님, 위로의 하나님을 만나기를 원하며 ‘여호와는 나의 분깃이니이다’ (57절)라고 외칩니다.

1. 하나님의 사랑(41-48절)
41절에는 하나님의 사랑뿐 아니라 구원에 관하여 말씀합니다. 하나님은 죄인을 사랑하신 증거로 구원을 주십니다. “ 우리가 아직 죄인되었을 때 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라”(롬 5:8).이 같은 하나님의 사랑을 안 사람은 하나님께 순종하게 되고, 하나님 사랑을 다른 사람에게 말하게 됩니다.

2. 하나님의 위로(49-56절)
성경을 연구하여 만난 하나님은 고난 중에서 위로자가 되시는 하나님이십니다.
본문 49, 52, 55절에는‘기억’이라는 단어가 나옵니다. 시인은 하나님이 약속하신 말씀을 기억하고 하나님께 호소하고 있습니다. 기억은 위로의 근원이 됩니다. 하나님의 백성들은 하나님의 옛 규례와 하나님의 이름을 기억할 것이며, 고난의 때에 하나님의 말씀과 이름을 기억하고 위로를 받게 될 것입니다. 고난은 하나님을 더욱 잘 알게 만듭니다. 하나님의 위로를 받은 사람은 단순히 하나님을 묵상만 하지 않고 찬송할 것입니다(54절). 바울과 실라는 빌립보 감옥에서 하나님을 찬송했습니다.

3. 하나님 자신을 만난다(57-64절).
우리가 하나님 말씀을 연구하는 목적은 단순히 위로를 받기 위하거나 하나님에 대해 어떤 것을 알기 위함이 아니라 하나님 자신을 알고 하나님 자신을 소유하기 위함입니다. 스펄젼(Spurgeon)목사님은 하나님을 소유하는 것을 전심으로 그를 찾는 것, 그에게로 돌이키는 것, 그에게서 위로를 받는 것, 그의 백성과 교제하는 것, 그의 선하심을 체험하는 것이라고 말씀합니다.
시인은 여호와를 나의 분깃이라고 말합니다. 하나님을 분깃으로 삼는 자는 모든 것을 소유한 자가 됩니다. 우리는 이 보화를 알아야 합니다. 하나님 얼굴을 찾는 것은 하나님 자신을 찾는 것입니다. 하나님은 하나님을 찾는 자를 만나십니다. 시인은 하나님을 만나기 위해 하나님의 증거들을 좇았고, 하나님 계명에 순종했으며, 하나님의 법을 기억하고, 주의 규례들로 인해 하나님께 감사했습니다.

사랑하는 성도 여러분,
우리는 하나님의 선민으로서 모든 보화보다 위대한 하나님의 법을 주야로 묵상하며 그 안에서 하나님을 만나야 합니다.
하나님을 만나 그 안에서 하나님의 사랑과 위로를 받으며 세상에 하나님의 사랑을 나누어 주는 저와 여러분이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.

The God that I met in His word
(Psalm 119:41-64)

Whenever we study the Bible, we should pray that our spirit would be saved by the awakening and nderstanding of the deepest meaning of the Bible. The psalmist wants to meet the God of love and comfort in the Bible and he cries, “You are my portion, O Lord”(v. 57).

1. God's love(vv. 41-48)
Verse 41 tells us not only about God's love but also His salvation. God saves us from our sins because of the fact that He loves sinners.“ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”(Romans 5:8).
Therefore, those who know God's love will obey Him and tell others about His love.

2. God's comfort(vv. 49-56)
The God that people meet through studying the Bible is a unique comforter of their afflictions. The word 'remember'appears in verses 49, 52, and 55. The psalmist remembers God's promises and appeals to God. Memory is the origin of comfort. God's people remember His ancient laws and His name. In their sufferings they remember God's word and His name, and are relieved by God.
Their sufferings help them understand God more deeply. Those who receive God's comfort not only meditate on His word, but also praise Him (v. 54). When the Apostle Paul and Silas were in the Philippian prison, they praised the Lord.

3. We meet God Himself(vv. 57-64)
The purpose of studying the Bible is not simply to receive comfort or to know something about God, but to know God Himself and topossess Him.
Charles Spurgeon once said that we look for him with all our heart, turn to Him, are relieved by him, keep company with His people, and experience His goodness.
The psalmist says,“ You are my portion, O Lord.”Those who receive God as their portion become the possessors of everything. We should recognize this precious treasure.
Those who look for God's face seek God Himself. God will meet those who are looking for Him. The psalmist followed His testimony, obeyed His commands, remembered His law, and thanked Him for His decrees.

My beloved congregation!
As His chosen people, we have to meet our Lord through the continuous meditation of His law which is far greater than any other treasure in the world.
In the place where we meet Him, we will be loved and relieved by Him. I sincerely pray that you and I will be loved by God in the name of Jesus Christ.
